
Vera Ammer, translator, lives in Euskirchen, Germany and is a member of the Board of the International Memorial Society. Vera Ammer was born in Munich. She studied philosophy, Russian language and literature and East European history (PhD on a topic from Russian philosophy). During 1990-95 staff she was a member of the Central Council of Jews in Germany. She is now a freelance translator (translations on historical, political and philosophical issues). Since the 1970s Vera has been an active participation in human right organizations, at present in Amnesty International and MEMORIAL Deutschland. She is particularly interested in Soviet history, Russian domestic politics, human rights issues in Russia.
