

Mary Page talks with Anna Sevortian (pictured right), Executive Director of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum. Anna was formerly Russia director for Human Rights Watch (2010-2013) and has extensive experience working on civil society and human rights in the former Soviet Union, conducting research and advocacy on Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Earlier she was deputy director of the Centre for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights in Moscow. The EU-Russia Civil Society Forum is a network of thematically diverse non-governmental organisations from Russia and the European Union, established as a bottom-up, non-partisan civic initiative to strengthen ‘civil society beyond the borders’ through joint activities, providing support and solidarity and exerting civic influence on policy- and decision-making at the (inter)governmental level to advance peaceful and sustainable development on the European continent and address common challenges and shared issues of public interest in both Russia and the EU.
