This week there was one ruling by the European Court of Human Rights with regard to Russia; the ruling found no violation of Article 2 (right to life) in the case.

Art 2 (material) – Positive obligations – Suicide of a man during his short-term detention at a police station – No evidence available to the police officers at the time of the events suggesting a definite and immediate risk of suicide – Police officers not required to adopt specific measures to prevent the materialisation of such a risk
Art 2 (procedural) – Effective, prompt, independent and sufficiently thorough investigation of the death – Participation of the family of the deceased in the investigation
No violation of Article 2 of the Convention.
