Week-ending 15 October 2021

On the evening of 14 October a group of masked men stormed the offices of the International Memorial Society in Moscow where a public screening of Mr Jones, a film about the Holodomor (the 1930s famine in Soviet Ukraine), was being held. Police were called and then, in the words of Amnesty International, Memorial was ‘effectively raided by the police who subjected those in side to unlawful detention and questioning lasting several hours.’
