Dzhibladze, Yuri

Yuri Dzhibladze is president of the Centre for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights, a Moscow-based public policy and advocacy NGO which he founded in 1998. The Center conducts public policy analysis, monitoring, public education, and advocacy campaigns on human rights and democracy issues, focusing lately on freedom of association and assembly, security of human rights defenders, human rights in the army, and links between corruption and human rights abuse. The Center is one of the leaders in Russia in international cooperation in human rights and democracy by interacting with the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and the EU, producing joint NGO reports, coordinating coalitions, articulating NGO positions, and speaking at international fora. Yuri has authored books and articles and regularly speaks at conferences. He is a member of the Presidential Council on Civil Society and Human Rights, a member of the Expert Council of the Ombudsman of Russia, and a member of the International Steering Committee of the Community of Democracies.
